Band 5:
Joining unpaid community service can development one’s social responsibility. If children do a lot of unpaid works such as cleaning, they will know how to help others and do something more to the society. If not, they will become much selfish and not love others. So, schools should ask children to do social work.
Band 6:
One distinct upside of requiring children to take voluntary activities is that their sense of social responsibility could be nurtured. Undeniably, unpaid community service is viewed as a means enabling children to realize that what they do could make a difference to the society and that felicity does not merely derive from money but the sense of achievement after rendering selfless help to the people in need, for example, reading newspaper for the blind. Thus, to awake their awareness of dedicating to the society, moral education should be a must in schooling.
Band 7:
The integration of voluntary community service into curriculum as a mandatory component is the optimal means evoking individual sense of social responsibility and ethical standard. In current society where materialism is highly worshiped, so egocentric are youngsters that they barely contribute anything to the whole society without any mercenary purpose. This undesirable phenomenon, indisputably, should be blamed on schools because of their negligence. Therefore, only through requiring the youth to regularly take voluntary tasks such as handling discarded wastes, can they realize what they do could make a difference to the society.
