另外,两个部分的提问范畴也不一样,Part 1会就生活相关的一些简单话题提问,比如hobby, leisure life, food and study or work等,但是Part 3可能会把话题上升到social problem, country and even the global issues.

  The First Example:

Whatare the advantages and disadvantages of being famous?

这是Describe a famous person that you like这个卡片题Part 3的延展提问。

大部分考生只知道用but来表示转折,或者死板的用advantages are ... and the disadvantages are ...

  Advantages:

  gainboth fame and wealth

getimmense satisfaction from vanity (wherever they were, they would be the focus)

  have alarge following…

  winother’s respect and love

  Disadvantages:

  Theyhave no privacy.

Theyshould be aware of paparazzi wherever they go.

As apublic figure, they must pay attention to their words and deeds anytime. (liveunder high pressure)

Quicktempo and mental stress drive them to crazy/depressive.

underintense stress / cause stress and anxiety

  Sample Answer:

Some ofyoung people want to be famous because that means they can gain both fame andwealth and enjoy the higher social status. Also, they will have a largefollowing, I mean wherever they go, they will be the focus, so they will feelthe strong sense of achievement and their self-confidence will be boosted. But as we all know, God will always be fair to everyone, whenyou get a lot, you will lose some. So it’s not hard to see some of darksides of being famous, like famous people have no privacy, that it to say wherever they go , they should beaware of paparazzi. And as a public figure, they must pay attention to theirwords and deeds anytime, so most of famous people live under high pressurewhich will drive them to crazy.

  The Second Example:

Do youthink zoos are good or bad?

As faras I can see, ...

  Personallyspeaking, ...

  From mypoint of view, ...

  In myopinion, ...

  As Isee it, ...

After alot of thought, I think ...

I'venever thought about this question much before, but it seems to me that ...

  Isriding a bicycle dangerous inChina

  ?

  So youcan say:

I amafraid I have to say that it really depends on how you ride your bicycle.

I guessit depends on the situation.

I thinkmy answer would be determined by different conditions.

  So youcan say:

I thinkit really depends. For human beings, zoo has many benefits.

Benefits: It has certain educational value.

It could be a real eye-opener.(大多数考生只知道用widen the horizon来表达开阔视野)

Butit’s a little bit unfair for animals.

Drawbacks: Animals are put into cage, and their freedom isrestricted.

Animals will be forced and trained to do someanimal shows only to please us.

  So Ithink Safari Park/Wildlife

Parkwould be the choicebeneficial to both sides.

  Sample Answer:

I thinkit really depends. For human beings, zoo has the certain educational value.People get the chance to see all kinds of animals that is a real eye opener. But it’s a little bit unfair for animals that are put into cage and theirfreedom is restricted. Sometimes animals that live in the zoo will be trainedand forced to do animal shows only to please people. So I think Safari Parkwhere animals can live freely in the nature world while people can get a chanceto enjoy them would be the best choice beneficial to both sides.

  The Third Example:

Atpresent, many animals are already facing extinction. How do you think averagecitizens could protect wild animals?

所以要想解决这道题,首先要想清楚具体的保护措施有哪些,比如forbid people from killing wild animalsillegally, 这里用到了forbid sb from doing sth的表达,禁止某人做某事。再来,It is the high time for people to stopthe destruction of the environment. 这里用到的it is the high time for sb to do sth意为到了该做...

  Sample Answer:

It isof the vital importance for human beings to protect some of wild animals thatare especially already facing extinction. And the initial thing we should domust be to stop the illegal killing of wild animals which is the key to solveproblem fundamentally. Apart from that, people should stop destroying theecological environment. All creatures on the earth have their meanings ofsurviving and should be treasured.

It isof the vital importance for sb to do sth

Theinitial thing we should do is ...

How to solve the transportation problem in yourcity? How to solve the global warming?

It’sessential/crucial/imperative for sb to do sth

It isthe high time for sb to do sth

It’s ofthe vital importance for sb to do sth

I believea range of steps should be taken, such as…

Thingsshould be done step by step. The initial thing that should be done is…then…andprobably most importantly, …

Inorder to solve this problem fundamentally, the government should …

Aseries of actions should be taken.

  TheForth

  Example:

Whichdo you think is better, studying in big classes or studying in small classes?

Small classes: moreclass discussions/ students are more attentive in class/ students can receivemore individual help from the teacher. Besides, in a small class, the studentscould have more interactive activities with the teacher and the teacher cangive each student whatever instructions or help that they need.

  Eachman carries his own bags.

Each ofthem goes to a different school.

Big classes: moreclassmates/ lower costs/ can interact with many peers from differentbackgrounds/but will be lack of specific guidance

  Sample Answer:

Personallyspeaking, I prefer small classes to big classes. In a small class, the studentscan have more interactive activities with teacher. That means they can have thedeeper discussion which will be good for school work. In addition, students insmall class can receive more individual help from teacher, that is to say, teacher can give each student whatever help that they need. I think that isexactly what big class never makes it.

Who doyou think is better at learning a language, boys and girls?

It really depends on their attitude and effort butnot the gender应该完胜你单独选择任何一方来回答。

  The Fifth Example:

  Why dopeople buy new things?

这是Describe a small shop/Talk about your last shoppingexperience等购物类话题Part 3的拓展提问,典型的原因论述类提问模式,即考生需要总结出原因来解释考官抛出的问题。

Thereason why … is that ...

I guessthis is probably because …

This isdue to the fact that …

Isuppose the reason has something to do with the fact that …

Why do people buy new things?

  原因一:the feeling of freshness

  原因二:as the way to relax

  原因三:satisfy the desire to buy

  Sample Answer:

I guessthe main reason why people like buying new things is that the feeling offreshness. Everytime you buy something new which puts you in a good mood. It’sjust like the birthday gift, and you will feel so excited when you open thegift box. Also, some of people treat it as theway to relax especially when they feel down or stressful. It is reported thatshopping or buy new things can improve the mood. Inaddition to what I’ve just said, some of shopaholics find that shoppingcan satisfy their desire to buy and make them feel right.

  So youcan say:

  As wellas this, …

  Inaddition to this …

  Additionally…

  To addto this …

  Beyondthat …

  The Sixth Example:

Do youthink e-books will ever replace traditional books?

所以如果今天用Yes的立场,从而用we should stop cutting down trees and protect ourecological environment来解释makeuse of electronic instead, 就会让考官眼前一亮了。

  Sample Answer:

I dobelieve that in some ways traditional books will be replaced by e-books in thefuture. I see nothing bad about that. Because when we make paper, we need tocut down a lot of trees. Although some people think the use of recycled papercan solve this problem to some extent, but it will take a long time. So peoplestill make paper by cutting down trees which destroys our environment. So Istrongly suggest to stop cutting down trees and make use of e-books instead.
